Quick Hits 👊
🔹Are Series 2 commons undervalued? If you missed yesterday’s new TFM Pod, it was a doozy. OG NBA Top Shot whale Steve Veerman returned to the show — and he and LG got into a long discussion regarding Collector Score. Steve brought up a point that hasn’t been talked about much — a change made to the amount of CS awarded for each moment when the new Summer series and Fandom tier were announced. The breakdown of points for each common moment:
Common Base Set:
S1 - 25 points | S2 - 12 points | Summer 21 - 2 points
Common Non Base Set:
S1 - 40 points | S2 - 20 points | Summer 21 - 2 points
Steve’s thought? That the Summer CS (2 points each) will become the standard for commons going forward, rewarding S1 and S2 commons at a much higher level. So if you’re a believer that Collector Score will be a long-term staple of the platform, S2 commons may be a sneaky value to level up.
🔹 Everybody loves a Bol Bol moment, and now we’ve got a Summer League one! The fan favorite was chosen for the third and final in-arena moment coming out of the Top Shot Kiosk:
with the final in-arena Moment coming outta #NBASummer ...

It also appears that those in Las Vegas got the memo regarding the marketplace prices on the first two Summer League moments (Killian Hayes and R.J. Hampton hovering in the $70 range), as the Bol highlight was by far the highest mint size at 4,079. Was it collectors realizing the flipping value? Or is it just a hot Bol summer? (I’ll see myself out.)
🔹Speaking of Summer… I can’t unsee the MJ/Jumpman logo after seeing this tweet from @packdrip:
If you say “Jumpman” 3 times in the mirror he appears. Who else sees it? https://t.co/xaMKnmOlrJ
🔹A reminder for our readers with deeper pockets — the Finals Legendary Challenge ends TODAY at 10 AM PST. It honestly feels like 6 months ago that the Finals ended, and I had forgotten this challenge was even still active! But the Jrue Holiday moment is one of the best to ever hit the platform IMO, and will be an extremely low mint (67 completions as of this writing). A championship-clinching steal, with a nasty alley-oop to Giannis Antetokounmpo as icing on the cake?
What Happens in Vegas... 🎰
Top Shot repeatedly uses the term ‘the currency of fandom’, and we’ve seen some great examples of this mantra through their IRL experiences. But this latest one might take the cake — how often can you spend the day playing knockout with one of the best young players in the league? Via Brandon Sowle of MomentRanks, who was live in Las Vegas to document the experience (and knock Haliburton out of the game):

With the NBA clearly invested in making Top Shot a success, and the wide reach of resources at their disposal, we could see some seriously unique and amazing experiences for collectors in the future. If these are just the start, the bar has certainly been set VERY high.

🎧 The Value of Series 2 (Feat. Steve Veerman)
Our old friend and Top Shot super collector Steve joins us on the pod to talk about the recent market surge and the conditions needed for it to sustain. But what ended up happening was in depth discovery conversation about Series 2 Base Moments and their future value based on the recent changes to the Collector Score. Some spicy takes in this one!
