A Series 1 Scratch-Off 🍀
Featuring the NBA Schedule Release, Series 1 Locker Packs, Supply & Burn Numbers, Challenge Corner & More
GM, B&B Squad! Cheers to the weekend!
We had the 2022-23 NBA schedule releases this week, which has turned into a fun exercise for the social & creative departments. Each year the clips remind me of the same tropes we see in Super Bowl advertising — babies, puppies, celebrity cameos, etc.
A few of my favorites this year:
Denver Nuggets’ Oregon Trail Remix — As an NFT degen, I’ve got a soft spot for the pixel art:
New Orleans Pelicans’ Executive VP of Basketball Ops David Griffin playing piano — very weird but very hilarious.
Dallas Mavericks guard Theo (whose full name is apparently Theophilus!) Pinson as a french director for a puppy calendar. I’m into it!
Let’s get into all the action from the last few days:
Loaded Locker Packs 🎟
Top Shot announced the date for the next batch of 200,000 Locker Room packs, coming on Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 4 PM PST.
After the community voted in late July for the end of S1 Reserve packs, the highly coveted moments will now be mixed into the Locker Room and available for 4 Trade Tickets each.
200,000 packs will be available “on demand”, and will include 3 moments (2 guaranteed S3 Base Set, and a third Moment that could be from Series 1, 2, Summer ‘21 or 3).
There are 2,000 total S1 moments up for grabs, giving collectors a 1% chance at snagging one in your pack.
For more details, take a look at what’s available via the pack list.
Wondering what the EV is on these upgraded Locker Room packs? An analysis from @MomentWatch:
The chance at an S1 pull should also restart the recycling fun, with users churning through undesirable S3 moments to continue ripping through the locker supply. These are basically Series 1 scratch offs!
And now we’ve even got a counter to see how many moments are being burned:
Speaking of burning and reducing supply — this tweet from @jonboybeats was pretty eye-opening:
Let’s keep that trend going for Series 4, why don’t we?
Challenge Corner 🏆
Things have been a bit quiet in the Challenge realm, with the 30 Squad Goals teams approaching the finish line. While I haven’t personally been too enamored with those, the rewards have seemed to hold pretty steady on the marketplace.
The Blake Griffin bottleneck at just 301 minted is still reigning supreme at a $750 low ask, with LeBron James a distant second at $575 as of this writing.
Currently active challenges include the current back-to-back MVP and the always popular Toronto Raptors:
Reward: Nikola Jokic
Deadline: Tuesday, Aug. 23 @ 10 AM PST
Current Cost to Complete: $316
Reward: Pascal Siakam
Deadline: Tuesday, Aug. 23 @ 10 AM PST
Current Cost to Complete: $246
