🎙️The Offseason Dip Is Coming
A new pod featuring Sorare ETH Rewards for MLB, how Candy digital could be better, our bets for Sorare NBA and Top Shot, and Phil's fortune cookie drama.
What’s up everybody, it’s LG Doucet here.
Tonight is the night where an NCAA champion is crowned and a legacy is secured.
And starting tomorrow, we enter what is arguably the greatest stretch of action in the sports calendar:
The Masters
MLB Season Start (and the games are fast)
NFL Draft
NHL Playoffs
NBA Playoffs
And that’s just the month of April!
Out of all that, I’m looking forward to the NBA Playoffs the most.. This year’s edition will feature no shortage of drama, and the end of the season is already shaping up to quite the spectacle (lol Mavericks).
Obviously as a Raptors fan, I won’t be as emotionally invested this year, but hey I’ll take a play-in game (or two!).
Actually, my sights are locked in on the two major NBA projects - Sorare and Top Shot - as they both get ready to deploy huge rollouts for the post season, and I get ready to buy what may be a large dip in the market.
Sorare NBA
The best time to buy Sorare MLB cards was not in January - it was from late September to mid-November, both on primary and secondary.
So for the NBA, I’m actually planning to accumulate in the near future. I think many premium players and future All-Stars are about to hit a low, and that there will be a good dip from now until mid-July.
Potential Moves:
Look for non-playoff rookies to buy low
Wait until offseason to buy perennial All-Stars (as they dip)
Cross my fingers they will launch ETH Rewards next October (spike in market!)
And hey if you’re curious, Sorare just released their ETH Reward structure for MLB.
NBA Top Shot
It’s hard to say when or if there is a bottom for TS, as the market continues to flood with supply. But I’ve also recently accepted that such is the nature of card-based collectibles, and that its up to the market to value certain editions over others.
I’ve spent the last few months accumulating Rookie Premieres (“four badgers”) as I believe those are the only true long-term holds.
Potential Moves:
Look for S2, S3, and S4 “four badgers” to scoop up low (especially as many will not have playoff utility).
Wait until the offseason dip + “great unlocking” in August for deals.
Pray they can grow this thing one day and that the market values the very first appearances of the next decade’s superstars.
What moves are YOU making?
Am I in a total blind spot here, or are you thinking something similar?

🎙️206 - ETH Rewards on Sorare, Offseason Flip Strategy, Free Mints, Top Shot Challenges, and Phil's Baywatch Posters
This week we made a promise - to talk about NFTs much earlier in the show!

But fear not, for the first hour is full of many personal goodies, such as a story about the posters Phil had in his bedroom growing up. The answer may shock you!
In this episode:
00:45 - What Phil’s bedroom looked like as a teenager
08:00 - Why Phil struggles with fortune cookies
17:00 - LG ate burnt ribs and it might kill him
23:00 - Our diets
32:00 - Free Mints are back!
35:30 - Stupid Sexy WWE Undertaker
39:00 - Phil was a wrestling promoter in high school

A spicy one this week, as we want to know which fictional character would make the best GM of Top Shot?
And Phil’s decision…
Congrats AJ!
***NEW SECTION ALERT***
Each week, we’ll try our best to feature upcoming drop. These are NOT endorsement or recommendations - they are just a listing of what’s coming out in our world.
These are also NOT trading advice. We do not endorse these nor recommend spending money on any of them. Please make your own decisions.
⛳ April 4 | DK Reignmakers PGA Drop 2
Cost: $25 Rare / $500 Elite / $3,500 Legendary
Supply: 1584 / 1239 / 574
Time: April 4th / 9:00 am PT for Early Access, 2:00 pm PT for Public
Thoughts: I really hate the DK website. Its impossible to navigate and all the ugly PFPs on their marketplace really dilutes the experience. But outside of that this should be a profitable drop, as the first drop has been a 4x on pack resale.
Cupe at OTM has put out a great piece on Reignmakers, and will be covering it all season long (read it here).
Here’s the EV from OwnTheMoment:
🥊 April 6 | UFC Strike Pride FC (Pushed back)
Cost: $119 per pack / 5 NFTs
Supply: 1,360
Time:
March 30, 10:30am PTApril 6, 11:00am PT
Thoughts: This was pushed back from last week, but the delay has not prevented Strike from launching challenges already.
⚽ Ongoing | La Liga Golazos Jornadas
Cost: $5 per pack / 4 NFTs
Supply: 28,000
Time: Ongoing
Thoughts: These are just starter packs so you’ll be limited to how many you can buy. But hey at $5 a piece, its pretty low lift.
🏉 Ongoing | AFL Starter Pack + 2022 Championship
Cost: $10 starter / $99 Relentless
Supply: 12,600 / 1,550
Time: Ongoing
Thoughts: AFL season just started, and I feel like this team is just ramping up. They sold out a drop last week which is a good sign.
*not redeemable for an actual kiss
We’re rebounding this week! After a few straight down charts, overall volume is up 27% this week on the back of a surge in Panini, ALL DAY, Candy, and Sorare.
And on the user side, we saw a surge on Sorare MLB and ALL DAY. '
Note: we had to remove Candy here because they FREE Claim was registering as buyers (and it was A LOT of people).
We had a busy week on Twitter with some must-know questions.
I’m really digging our video game angle lately, and my answer to the below was without a doubt Yoshi (he sucks).
And last, we went to Doodles to wrap out the week and this one had some of the BEST answers I’ve seen yet.
