The Price Is Wrong 💸
Featuring New Offer Features, a Weary WNBA Drop, FLOW Airdrop Speculation & More
Good Morning, B&B Squad! Hope your week is off to an excellent start!
September marks the start of the EuroBasket, the premier international basketball tournament — and as usual there will be some of the NBA’s top stars competing for their respective countries, including Giannis Antetokoumnpo (Greece), Luka Doncic (Slovenia), Nikola Jokic (Serbia) and Rudy Gobert (France).
The qualifiers were this past weekend, and Giannis… is terrifying:
Not to be outdone, you also had reigning-MVP Jokic nailing one-legged corner fadeaways (over Giannis). The basketball world is in good hands, folks!
Let’s get into all the action from the last few days:
An Offer Upgrade ⚙️
Top Shot checked a nice product update off the list on Monday, expanding the offer system to add the ability to make both edition and serial-specific offers within the marketplace.
While previously it was only possible to make an individual offer on a specific moment, the new improvements make the system a bit more user-friendly — and will continue to help price discovery and improve liquidity.
As mentioned in the tweet above, the side-effect of this new feature has been a wave of extremely-low bids — not unlike what we see from bots on the OpenSea market.
Me, scowling at the shitty, clearly unreasonable offers on my high-value moments:
A Weary WNBA Drop 📦
The WNBA Metallic Gold LE Drop, the first to utilize the new ‘RSVP’ system, went down on Tuesday — and we saw a rare non-sellout, with 2214 packs remaining of the 8,750 supply. The drop was priced at $89, and included one MGLE and 4 common WNBA moments.
The remaining supply will be moved to a general queue starting today at 2 PM EST — and moments pulled from the RSVP drop will be locked until the conclusion of the sale.
With the WNBA currently in the playoffs, it’s a bit of a surprise that demand wasn’t higher. But with a large NFL All Day drop coming Thursday and at a high price point ($89), we might have some fatigue on the W side — and perhaps users holding their funds for the other Dapper products.
FLOW AIRDROP FUN 🪂
Fall is around the corner, and the now infamous ‘truckload of FLOW’ post from Dapper is running out of time to come to fruition.
While it’s been a busy few months in FLOW (including the Gaia Marketplace announcement this past week), users are keen to hold Dapper accountable after a history of overpromising and under-delivering in the earlier days of NBA Top Shot.
So what do we know so far regarding the airdrop? A good speculation thread:
My guess on the truck size:
