🎙️The Top Shot Redemption Arc
A new podcast featuring The Champion's Path, trips to the dump, Goo Goo Dolls tickets, Sorare vs Top Shot, and even some pack openings.
What’s up everybody, it’s LG Doucet here.
The Playoffs have started, and Top Shot’s latest experiment is out in full force.
Thus far, The Champion’s Path has sold roughly 59,000 packs out of a possible 139,000 (approximately 42%), and the market has chosen LeBron as its most valuable Moment.
For a full primer on HOW these packs work, check out our thread from the other day. Basically, you get a Tatum card, and can choose to burn it for a Moment of his from a round that has just concluded. So the deeper a player goes, the more his card gets burned for different rounds, and the scarcer it becomes.
Although these are fewer packs sold than expected, the slow pace does introduce an extra layer to the already spicy Redemption game.
What happens when the First Round is over, and the mint windows for the ousted teams closes up?
Surely, Top Shot cannot continue to sell packs containing Redemption Cards for Moments that can no longer be minted. Right?
Although I don’t agree on the method for distribution of these Moments (they should have been airdropped, not sold), I do love anything that gets us talking strategy on Top Shot rather than causing us to complain more.
And there’s no shortage of either in this week’s pod…

🔥Hot Take of the Week
Not gonna lie, I knew this week’s edition would get spicy.
We have a fantastic lineup of Canadian talent in the NBA right now, and many of them are still quite young!
Phil’s choice:
And for the first time ever, we had a runner up too!
Both Jake and Jeb will be receiving Candy Digital Play of The Week packs, which are available right now over on Candy.com.
Here’s all the hot action coming this week:
☄️ Today | Code.Lawless NFT
Cost: 0.008192 ETH
Supply: Open Edition, 72 hours
Time: Available now!
Thoughts: This is from the team that launched MoonCats, one of the OG NFT projects that even pre-dates Cryptokitties. Not sure what’s going on…
⚾ Today | Candy MLB Team Packs
Cost: $5 / pack
Supply: 3,333 packs per team
Time: Available now!
Thoughts: Not their only drop today, but I love that super simple price point. Plus, these will be used to “compete in Candy Code Breakers challenges”. Could this be Candy’s comeback season?
🏀 Today | Top Shot Playoff Redemptions
Cost: $10 / $29
Supply: 91,000 packs / 48,000 packs
Time: Available now!
Thoughts: As you know, I love the mechanics of the drop, but wish these had been airdropped! That being said, I will still participate heavily.
Nothing major on the volume charts this week, although I did remove the Panini listing since I’m not sure the data is 100% accurate there.
And on the active buyer front:
Its a weird time on Twitter right now.
But hopefully with the playoffs picking up, we can get things spicy again!
Still on that video game kick, and honestly when I was a kid some games were downright impossible.
And last one - pick your poison here.
