Top Shot Turns 3 🎂

This was a strange little discovery we made on this week’s show, following a question form a listener: Top Shot is about to turn 3 years old.
As in 3 years since the first ever pack drop, way back on June 14, 2020.
Now, I wasn’t around for it (I started in September 2020), but looking back in the old blogs there are some pretty shocking numbers and facts.
For starters, Cosmic packs cost only $230 (the floor today is still double that).
And five days after those packs went on sale, they still has not sold out, as proven by this blog post stating that they were still available.
Other Notables:
The first three packs released were Early Adopters, Cosmic, and Rookie Debuts
HOLO MMXX was first released on June 30, 2020 and also cost $230.
From The Top Legendary set was released July 8, 2020 for $230.
Some of the original sets focused on specific plays, like Blocks (“Denied”) and Buzzer Beaters (“For The Win”).
Although TS will tell you it’s official birthday isn’t until October 1st, its clear the OGs (i.e. Cryptokitty people) were in the game months before that.
My my, how time has passed. It’s amazing to see how much the platform and the space have progressed since.
Oh. I see. They’ve been in beta for three years.
Well I guess some things don’t actually ever change.
