Airdrop Arrivals 💸
Featuring A Flurry of Upcoming Challenges, A FLOW VIP Airdrop, NFT Day Mania & More
Good Morning, B&B Squad! Hope you all had an excellent weekend!
I celebrated my 32nd trip around the sun on Monday, and my old bones are currently feeling as spry as the players below (it’s also a look at the average age of collectors excited for the NBA Top Shot 1986-87 drops *KIDDING*):
Let’s get into all the action from the last few days:
Challenge Corner 🏆
Top Shot released an interesting blog on Tuesday, detailing some new challenges coming between now and the start of the season:
Between September 26, 2022 and October 14, 2022, collectors will have 13 new NBA challenges to participate in, each with an exclusive limited edition historical Challenge Reward for those bold enough to complete them.
The update introduces ‘Lockdown Challenges’ — which will require users to lock the required moments to Leaderboards to earn special moment rewards. The first two Lockdown rewards are a pair of spicy Top Shot Debuts — a Rare rookie moment from Dennis Rodman, and a Rare Larry Bird highlight from the NBA Finals.
An appearance from The Worm is cause for one of my favorite GIFs:
Each will require locking 7 moments, with the Rodman Challenge beginning on Sept. 26, followed by Bird on the 29th.
Additionally, Top Shot introduced Archive Challenges — requiring collectors to BURN moments from the 1986-87 Archive drop (public sale TODAY at 10 AM PST).
There will be three Archive Challenges, with Spud Webb, Artis Gilmore and Dell Curry coming as rewards.
Last but not least — Vintage Vibes is coming back starting Oct. 1 via crafting, with 8 different challenges leading up to the start of the NBA season. No details were revealed for the Fandom rewards, other than “a mix of Top Shot debuts and returning fan favorites”.
And the end of the blog dropped some heat — let’s burn, baby!
All of these new challenges introduce more gamification and ‘utility’, which has been a hot topic in the Dapper streets in the wake of the massive success All Day has seen through the first few weeks of the season.
Top Shot early adopter and Flowty founder MBL has been a vocal opponent of the gamification over collectible focus — and while his tweets have been aimed at All Day’s current fantasy football focused Playbook, it’s also a cautionary tale from the Top Shot side:
VIP Treatment 🧐
Tuesday was International NFT Day (commemorating the first appearance of NFTs in a published paper on Sept. 20, 2017) — and the festivities were largely led by Dapper Labs and the broader FLOW community. And if you were on Twitter at all yesterday, you probably saw 8,000 different NBA Top Shot pack giveaways!
While there was plenty of speculation that the ‘truckload of FLOW’ airdrop could coincide with the celebration, we still remain truckless as of now.
Trucking aside, a FLOW airdrop was announced (that many confused for the aforementioned load) — with VIP collectors receiving a minimum of $50 USD equivalent in FLOW tokens based on net spend:
While there seemed to be a lot of confusion over this announcement, the VIP airdrop is apparently unrelated to the trucks:

🎧 How Premint is Making NFTs Less Painful (Feat. Brenden Mulligan)
There’s a golden question in NFTs - Where is it all going? There’s no straight answer here. The NFT boom came out of nowhere, as did its biggest players. So with no predictable origin, it’s challenging to predict a future, or a final act. But today's guest cares less for what the future holds, and more for what creators need right now today. He is a mission-based builder, and develop one of the industry's most useful tools, Premint. Brenden Mulligan joins us on the show.
