The End of $1 Moments 👛
Featuring the best video game ever, EPL on Sorare, $1 floor disappearing, my trip to Portland, and an $8 Snoop Dogg mint.
What’s up TFM peeps.
Happy week before the Super Bowl. And happy 2/3 mark of the NBA Season. And in a few weeks…happy pitchers + catchers reporting day!
Early February is such a funny time for sports. We’re in the slog of winter, keen for entertainment - and yet it can feel a bit slow, as we await the final game of the NFL season and football leaves an enormous void in sports programming.
Perhaps the best way to fill that void is with a little video game action.
I’ve been on such a gaming kick the last few months. I’ve played some old PS4 games, some new PC titles (Sea of Thieves), Niantic’s NBA All World, and was briefly obsessed with Yuga Labs’ Dookey Dash.
It’s clear our community has a massive appetite for both current and nostalgic gaming. The responses to this post below were quite rabid.
Personally for me, the answer is NBA Jam on Super Nintendo.
Just an unbelievable game and one of the first to incorporate a 4-player setup using the SNES Multi-Tap.
I need to find a Super Nintendo. Or even just an N64.
And hey before we get started - we’re going back live next week, starting with a Monday night Twitter Spaces!
We’re calling this TFM: Open Mic🎙️ for now, and it will be literally just that: an open forum. I’m gonna share a bit of what I’m trading right now, Phil is gonna stir things up, and you’re all invited to come ask the hard questions.
Now let’s get into all the action from this past week.
🏆 Sorare x English Premier League
A few months back, I realized that I had assumed this whole time that the EPL was already on Sorare. But turns out, they weren’t signed at all - rather, Sorare had pretty much every other league but them.
Until now.
Although this was hardly news (they announced the license months ago), it is still a pretty massive deal and obviously the last stone on Sorare’s Soccer-Thanos-Gauntlet.
This should bring many more eyeballs (and users) to a platform that just set a record for its own highest monthly unique buyers (50,000+).
My favorite part of this announcement: the marketing video.
I’ve continually praised Sorare’s appetite for going all out on marketing, and they’ve outdone themselves yet again here with a great spot - where they featured leading Sorare podcaster John Nellis.
Nicolas, if you’re reading this, and you need a French Canadian person to be in the NHL commercial (if/when you sign them), please lmk.
👛 The End of $1 Moments on Top Shot
Just yesterday, NBA Top Shot dropped their most popular packs in a long time, with the release of the Locker Packs, each of which contained a guaranteed Series 1 moment.
There were just under 15,000 packs available, and they were quickly gobbled up at the cost of 40x Trade Tickets (which could be earned by collectors by burning Moments).
This drop also raised the floor from $1 to $2, as collectors clamoured to gather the necessary tickets.
We have well documented how TS needs to regulate the economy in Series 4, and releasing the remaining supply of Series 1 is a huge part of that.
However, I do think they should have simply burned them all.
🛒 The Pack Marketplace is Nigh
In other Dapper news, our friend Diamond spotted a late night piece on chain that hints at a pack marketplace finally coming to Flow.
The Dapper ecosystem has been on fire as of late, as tools like Flowty (No Fee Marketplace) and Evaluate (NFT trading) have rolled out awesome tools.
Lucky for me, I recently opened and/or sold off all my Top Shot packs. Lets hope it was the right move, because after all - some people have TONS of them, waiting to potentially offload on the pack MP.
🎟️ My Trip To Portland
Last week, I had the honor of travelling down to Portland to meet up with two NBA Top Shot fan communities: Rip Packs City (Portland) and Jurassic Pack (Toronto).
In all, we had a group of SIXTY PEOPLE go the Raptors-Blazers game together, in what is becoming a common tradition across the TS fandom groups.
I really do think the Team Captains program is one of the best things Top Shot ever created, and a model that should be followed by ALL DAY, Strike, and even Sorare.
If you’re even slightly into NBA Top Shot, and live near any NBA city, I highly recommend you link up with your local team captain and join one of the community meetups. You might even score some game tickets!
A few dimes this week, including two plugs and an open edition Snoop Dogg mint.

Tax season is coming so get your full CSV transaction download on NFT Bank (its free!). I used this last year to do my taxes (it was still challenging). We are not affiliated.
Guys…is Kawhi back? Like for real he’s back? A few from The Klaw this week:
Also, in case you missed it, Kyrie Irving requested a trade yesterday (lol what).
Could he have been set off my…a past team’s fanbase taunting him? And have a deep desire to add yet another disgruntled fanbase to his repertoire?
And last, gonna throw in a Daniel Gafford highlight, strictly because I feel bad that I once completely butchered his name live on stream.
